The Story of Notre Dame
Brother Aidan's Extracts

BENOIT, REV. JULIAN (Benefactor -- Fort Wayne)

"Father Benoit, a great friend of Notre Dame, came to its aid financially several times. He sent sons of real Indians to the University. 'It is not me you should thank', said Father Sorin, Oct. 13, 1890, 'but Father Benoit, who has done so much for Notre Dame." 1890

" . . . Father Sorin was much blamed by Fathers of the Council for his absence. They wanted to see him, and to make plans to render his establishment of Brothers more effectual for the future than it has been in the past. However, they resolved, I think, to write to him and to adopt with his measures calculated to forward his good undertaking." Rev. Julian Benoit writing about Cincinnati Provincial Council, 1858
