RICHARD, BROTHER (William Stoney -- died Feb. 11, 1878)

"Brother Richard, William Stoney; Died Feb., 11, 1878. This Brother was an American and a convert. He had served in the army for a few months in the last Civil War. In the community he was a model of simplicity and obedience. Ever Cheerful, he was ready for any work however mean or painful. He was very fond of pious pictures, which he delighted to distribute to others. He was not sick very long but died almost suddenly. He was buried on the very day we had the solemn obsequies of Pius IX in our Church, and thus he shared the splendid mourning decoration of the church." Granger Memo. 1878
