The Story of Notre Dame
Brother Aidan's Extracts

WILLIAM, BROTHER (Patrick Early -- Died July 21, 1910)

1910: "Brother William died at St. Mary's Rectory, Newport, Rhode Island, July 21, 1910. He had suffered an apoplectic stroke two days before and never regained consciousness. He left Notre Dame about ten days ago to spend a short vacation with his relatives in Worcester, Massachusetts, and later to visit friends in Newport.

"He was born in County, Leitreim, Ireland, in 1846; received the habit, 1879; professed, August 15, 1881. For more than twenty five years since he traveled in the interests of the "Ave Maria," and in doing so has covered a large part of the country. His genial disposition made him friends wherever he went, and he was known to half the Bishops and priests between the Rockies and the Atlantic"--South Bend News, July 22, 1910.
