Informed that White fell again into the same excesses, Walsh ordered him to (New Orleans). He arrived five months ago. Upon (Penalver's) arrival, he ordered him to return to his parish, but instead of complying, White returned to drinking. Walsh does not consider him capable of discharging his duties. Three days after arrival, White, tired out from his journey, took some rum and water which made him so sick that he had to go to bed. Neither then nor at any other time did he give scandal. White denies the charge that he had lost his senses when he was sleeping in the chair and in bed. He repents of his sins. He is 41.

When Lennan received Penalver's letter of January 28, he talked privately to Brady who confirmed what he had written to Penalver. Lennan lost no time in finding out about White's weakness from certain persons who said they had attributed it to an accident and so it had not caused scandal. This, together with White's good conduct incites Lennan to intercede for White who, since his arrival on January 28 has been without fault, assisting daily in the church, devoting himself to reading and proposing firmly to amend. If White falls. Lennan will be the one to inform Penalver. These are the reasons Lennan has not begun proceedings as ordered and White begs Lennan to suspend the proceedings. But if Penalver wishes him to carry it out, Lennan will be glad to do so.

White asks (Penalver) to declare that he does not deserve the penalties asked by (Delgado) and to absolve him from all guilt and restore him to his parish and free him from the costs. (White repeats some of the points already made in his own defense). Brady's accusation is false. (White presents his proof of this false accusation point by point). Bruin's testimony is worthless because it is not itemized. Herold did not administer the oath to him. Maria Pasqual's testimony is false because she could not see the road or door. Cochran's evidence is worthless because he was drunk. De Arce's testimony is false (for reasons White has already stated). Herold's testimony is false and irrelevant. He begs to be free from the calumny launched by Brady.

Having seen the proceedings and upon reflection the final decision was suspended from May 4, 1797 on, White being sent to Nogales as chaplain of the troops there, which commission he fulfilled with exactitude continuing his good resolutions. Penalver withdraws the case and terminates the trial. The parish of Colescree(k) being discontinued with its surrender together with Na(t)che(z) and annexations to the United States of America, White will be given another place. Quintero certifies this and adds that he notified White and Delgado on April 14.
