Arboud, a native of Le Havre in Normandy and a resident of Baton Rouge appeared and stated that he wished to marry Rosa Henrri, a native of St. Malo in Brittany. He asks (Penalver) to receive his evidence for a dispensation, taking as part of the proof the document he presents which shows the inability of some witnesses to appear. He is the son of Fran(cis)co Arboud and M(ari)a Henrri, daughter of Jose Henrri and Cristina Pitre, daughter of Jose Pitre and Fran(cis)ca Hevert, the common stock. Rosa Henrri is the daughter of Juan Henrri and M(sri)a Pitre, daughter of Fran(cis)ca Bodreau and Jose Pitre, son of Jose Pitre and Fran(cis)ca Hevert, the common stock. Arboud is the son of Fran(cis)co Arboud and M(ari)a Henrri, daughter of Cristina Pitre and Jose Henrri, son of Roberto Henrri. Rosa Henrri is the daughter of M(ari)a Pitre and Juan Henrri, son of Magdalena Godreau and Martin Henrri, son of Roberto Henrri. His fiancee is very poor, an orphan, 30 years old and he has had the intention of marrying her for five years. Both are originally from Acadia where they always try not to intermarry with others, whereby they have preserved the Catholic religion. Father (Isidro) Quintero states at the beginning of the letter that Arboud appeared.

Statement of the parentage of Frederic Arbour and Rose Henry. Marie Henry, mother, Pierre Henry, the uncle and Maximilien Henry, brother and godfather of the petitioner certify that the above is true. They beg (Penalver) to have pity on their age and poverty which make it impossible for them to go down to New Orleans and they ask him to allow the marriage.

The undersigned, in the presence of witnesses, certify that Frederic Arboud and Rose Henry are related in the third degree, Marie Henry, the mother of the fiancee and Marie Pitre, mother of fiancee being first cousins, issue of Joseph Pitre and Cristine Pitre, brother and sister. Being the only relatives in this country and being the only ones knowing the relationship of the two families, they ask the bishop to grant the necessary dispensation. Their age and infirmities prevent them from testifying in the capital. J. M. Armant and Joseph Bro sign as witnesses.

Penalver grants the dispensation on condition that they both make a general confession and two others, say the rosary every day for two weeks. Upon fulfillment of these conditions, word will be sent to the pastor of Baton Rouge that he may marry them. Quintero certifies this and adds that he notified Arboud and sent word to the pastor of Baton Rouge.
