Proceedings for a dispensation from the second degree of relationship for Luis Simon in order to marry Feliciana Falgau.

Simon of the parish of St. James of Caabanose asks the bishop for a dispensation and to receive the testimony of the witnesses: that Simon is the son of Guillermo Simon and Juana Roy and Feliciana Falgau is the daughter of Luis Falgau and Maria Roy, sister of Juana, both daughters of Santiago Roy and Margarita Lehou, their grandparents; that Simon had been married to Mariana Lamber who left him three children; that he is very poor with only two slaves from his wife's property and is obliged to abandon his work to care for his children; that his fiancee could bring up these children and her relationship as an aunt would be a stimulus; that his fiancee is very poor with six brothers, her father sixty years old.

(Simon) and the witnesses are to appear and give testimony. The bishop signs with his flourish and Father Isidro Quintero certifies as secretary, adding in a note that he notified Simon of the decree.

Renato Arnaud, witness presented by Simon, appeared and swore (to essentially the same information as that given in Simon's first letter). Arnaud is a resident of Caabanose but is a native of Poitias (Poitiers?) in France. He is 36 years old.

Cleofacio Barbei, a native of the parish of St. Charles, first German Coast, now a resident of (New Orleans?) appeared and swore (to essentially the same information as that given in Simon's first letter).

In order to grant the dispensation to Luis Simon and Feliciana Falgau, they are to be notified that they must make one general confession, confess six other times in the space of three months, fast on all Fridays during this time and say the rosary daily. A copy of this decree is to be sent to the pastor of Caabanose, who will certify when the penances are completed. Quintero certifies this and adds in notes following that he made the decree known to Simon and that he sent a copy of the decree to the pastor of Caabanose.

Mangan, pastor of the church of St. James of Cabahonoce, certifies that Luis Simon and Felicitas Falgoux have completed the penances imposed by the decree of July 17.

Since the penances have been completed and the reasons sufficient, Penalver grants the dispensation and orders an official decree to be sent to the pastor of Caabanose telling him that he may proceed to marry them. Quintero certifies he may proceed to marry them. Quintero certifies this and adds in notes that he notified Simon of the decree and sent the above decree to the pastor of Caabanose.
