Jose Brusard, a native and resident of Atakapas wishing to marry Maria Tibaudau of the same nationality and faith, asks (Penalver) to order that the testimony be heard and that the witnesses swear to the following items: that he belongs to the parish of St. Martin of Atakapas, is the son of Pelagia Landry and Francisco Brusard, son of Jose Brusard and Ana Tibaudau, daughter of Juan Tibaudau, son of another Tibaudau, name unknown, who died in Acadia; that Maria Tibaudau is of the same parish and is the daughter of Rosalia Gibau and Pablo Tibaudau, son of Claudio Tibaudau, son of the same unknown Tibaudau; that the parents of his fiancee are very poor, (the father) partly paralyzed, and with nine children. Brusard asks that (Penalver) grant the dispensation and order their parish priest to marry them. Father (Isidro) Quintero adds in a note at the beginning of this document that (Brusard) appeared but did not know how to sign.

Having seen the evidence, Penalver grants the dispensation on condition that they make a general confession to counteract the scandal given, say the rosary daily for 15 days, fast every Friday for a month. Upon fulfillment of these conditions, the parish priest of Atacapas will marry them with the nuptial blessing. Quintero certifies this document and in notes following states that he notified J(ose)ph Brusard of the decree and sent the required letter to the pastor of Atacapas.
