Artiles, native of the Canary Islands and resident of the parish of New Galvez asks (Penalver) to receive his testimony and that of the witnesses on these points: that he is a resident of St. Bernard's, son of Felipe Artiles and Juana Carsola [Casorla], daughter of Juan Casorla and Maria Rodrig(ue)z Ximenez, daughter of Fran(cis)co Rodriguez and Ines Ximenez; that Maria Garcia of the same place and faith, is the daughter of Domingo Garcia and Ines Rodriguez Ximenez, daughter of Sebastiana de la Cruz and Gabriel Rodriguez Ximenez, grandfather of Fran(cis)co Rodrig(ue)z and Ines Ximenez; that Maria Garcia has a stepfather who mistreats her and she is poor and unattractive to anyone but Artiles who has been fond of her since they were children. If the testimony is sufficient, he asks that the bishop order their pastor to marry them. (Father Isidro) Quintero, as secretary, has noted that Artiles does not know how to sign.

Artiles presented as witness Domingo Morales, a native of the Canary Islands and resident of the above-mentioned parish who swore (to essentially the same information as given in the first document of these proceedings), that he is 48 years old and does not know how to sign.

Ronquillo, a native of Coria and resident of St. Bernard's appeared and swore (to essentially the same information as given above), that he is 35 years old and does not know how to sign.

Penalver y Cardenas, Luis, Bishop of

Having heard the testimony, Penalver grants the dispensation under these conditions: that they make a general confession and one other, that they say the rosary every day for a month and fast every Friday for the same period. This decree is to be sent to the pastor of St. Bernard's at New Galvez who, with parental consent and the fulfillment of the penances, will marry them with the nuptial blessing. Quintero signs also as secretary and adds in notes following that he notified Artiles of the decree and sent the decree to the pastor of St. Bernard's as ordered.
