1912 Jan.20
Fraser, Mary C(rawford): Winthrop, Wash(ington)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

The portrait with the relic lives in the house of Hugh and Kitty who were married on St. Peter's day. They live in a cottage which belongs to this property. They were all carried away by the first accounts of "Little Therese" of Lisieux early last year. Father Luyten has tried again and again to reach them this winter. They have had no Mass since Oct. 24. She is now writing a new volume of Memoirs. Would Hudson care for the chapter on Our Lady of Pompeii? She must stop writing as Jack is preparing to plough his way down to the post office.

1912 Jan.30
Hsieh, Francis Xavier: Wei Hai Wei, China
to Father D(aniel) E. Hudson, C.S.C.: Notre Dame, Indiana

Revolutionary movements have brought the Manchurian dynasty to a critical situation. The final issue rests on further belligerent measures. Through the Ave Maria Hudson's timely advice has done immeasurable good. The article "A Modern Monastery" in an old number of the "Donahoe's" still interests Hsieh.
