Tiernan, F(rances) C(hristine Fisher): Salisbury, N(orth) C(arolina)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Tiernan has been down with asthma and bronchitis. She made a good beginning on his story before she fell ill. She sends a little story now which he might like. Her aunt told it to her who in turn got it from a Scotswoman. Doesn't it remind Hudson of the Miracle of Bolsena?

Ward, William Hayes: South Berwick, M(ain)e
to Father (Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Ward is here on vacation and received the clipping Hudson sent to The Independent office. He thanks Hudson for his generous recognition of the spirit which Ward means should characterize the Independent in its relations to the Catholic Church. Such papers as the Catholic Standard and Times hate them. Ward has only kind feelings to the Catholic Church and attended Mass at the Catholic Church Sunday as well as at a Protestant church.
