Fielding, S.C., Sister Clare: Chentingfu, China
to Father (Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

She thanks Hudson and their benefactors. It is a relief to their old Sister Superior to see that she can still count on Providence and go on opening her doors to the deserving poor. They received eight new children today. Did Hudson notice in the March and April numbers of the "Bulletin de Pekin" the articles about the children's baptisms in their Vicariate? About 250 women from neighboring villages came to their house for breakfast and dinner on Easter Sunday. The priest can only visit each village once a year. Among the visitors was the woman she told Hudson about who was converted by a visit from Our Lady when she was very ill over 25 years ago.

Scholfield, J(ohn) F(aber): Preston, (England)
to Father (Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

They have let their house for five years and have settled at Preston in order to secure Catholic day schools for the children. Edinburgh does not possess a Catholic college for boys and not even a Catholic girls' day school of any size. If Longmans will not take up the publication of the articles, he will write to Mr. Gunnersback at St. Louis.
