McIntyre, John: Chicago, (Illinois)
to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.: Notre Dame, Ind(iana)

Fifteen years ago Dr. Schneider of Milwaukee operated on his left eye, but all through these years it has been for the most part inflamed and painful. In May he almost decided to see an oculist, but instead sent $10 to Hudson for the Sisters in Austria and Germany. In the last two years he has sent ten or more letters to Europe with money. The night he sent Hudson the money he bathed his eye with baking soda on the advice of his sister and the eye was cured. He attributes its healing power to the Little Flower. He is in his 70th year. He sends a check for the Chinese missions.

Raupert, J(ohn) Godfrey: Bonn, Germany
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Raupert is still in the hospital and there has been some improvement in his condition. His work has taken its toll on his health, but with mandates of such high authorities as four Popes he could not but look upon his work as an apostolate. He remembers the remarks of the clergy and others which reached him when it became known that (Sir Oliver) Lodge had brought from the United States 16,000 pounds. (Conan) Doyle's recent visit to America and the foolish work of Father (Charles M.) Heredia, (S.J.) has brought several requests for him to return to the United States. The American Jesuits under men like Heredia are trying to disprove the reality of spiritualism while the European Jesuits are trying to show its reality. Raupert would like to write a series of articles on his life as a Catholic for the past twenty-eight years. Would it be suitable for the Ave Maria? He does not know when he will be able to begin. The fall in the value of the mark has brought them practically to financial ruin. His one great consolation is the companionship of his dear wife.
