(Holmes), Marjorie: Bentham, (England)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Holmes misses Hudson's letters. What has happened to him? The Ave Maria came in September with her poem in it. She would rather have a letter from him than have her poem printed. Perhaps some day she will come to America.

1923 Dec. 23
Houstoun, E.: Timaru, New Zealand
to (Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.): Notre Dame, Indiana

In the June 4, 1921 issue of the Ave Maria it is stated that the Rev. P. A. Walsh has published a book proving that the song "The Exile of Erin" was written by George Nugent Reynoldsand not by Thomas Campbell. Neither of these men wrote the song. It was written by a Monk of Terpoint Abbey who fled to Rome at the time of the destruction of that building by Cromwell. The original was found about ten years or twelve ago in the Sapienza Library in Rome.
