Hannah, Ian C.: (Oberlin,) Ohio
to Father (Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Hannah thanks Hudson for the kind reference to his book on Christian monasticism. He will warmly receive any errors or suggestions for a second edition. So far all the reviews received from Catholic organs have been exceedingly kind.

Eaton, Robert: Birmingham, (England)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Eaton is grateful to Hudson for his kind works about Eaton's scribblings and for that wonderful sentence of J(ohn) H(enry) N(ewman). Ward's Life is a mere caricature: the whole matter was a sad muddle. The volume of correspondence with Keble was a great failure. Would the Ave Maria accept a small series of spiritual chapters from Eaton.

Mannix, Mary E.: La Jolla, (California)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Would Hudson like an article on the Cure of Ars? She sees in the August Ave Maria that Hanna(h) Josephine Ranous has some verses entitled "The Good Shepherd" which are a mangled version of "The Fugitive Shepherd" by Mannix. Mannix thinks the original should be reprinted with a reproof to Hannah.

(Both poems are enclosed.)
