Blundell, Agnes L.: Maes Alyn, (England)
to Father (Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Blundell thanks Hudson for his kind letter about her novel "Tradition." She accepts the terms he proposes—three dollars per printed page for the serial rights, the story to begin in January. She feels it is a great pleasure to have her work appear in the Ave Maria.

Gasquet, (O.S.B.), Cardinal (Francis) A(iden): Rome, (Italy)
to F(athe)r (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

A paragraph on Herbert Spencer in the September number of the Ave prompted Gasquet to tell Hudson that Spencer's last years were spent in Brighton and Gasquet sometimes met him. Gasquet and his brother, a doctor, frequently had visits from Spencer. Dr. Gasquet was widely read in metaphysics and theology. Spencer told Cardinal Gasquet that Dr. Gasquet was the most wonderful man he had known. Spencer said he would give everything he had and was to have such faith.

Hannah, Ian C.: Oberlin, Ohio
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Hannah realizes the great magnanimity contained in the way Hudson signed. By the same post comes an excellent review from the London Catholic Times and Hudson may be interested to hear that Hannah has seen no hostile Protestant criticism.
