1926 Jun. 11
Christitch, E(lisabeth O'Brien): London, (England)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Annie (Christitch) has just returned from the International Women's Council in Paris. While there she met Archbishop ( ) Roditch of Belgrade, who is to read a paper at the Chicago Congress on Christian Unity and who cherishes the idea of visiting Hudson at Notre Dame. Roditch is well aware of Hudson's goodness toward the struggling churches of Nish and Belgrade. He is not collecting for his cathedral, as the Holy Father does not wish him to do so on this occasion—American generosity is already heavily taxed. He comes to improve relations with Serbia's friends.

1926 Jun. 25
Heuser, (Father) H(erman) J.: (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Heuser grumbles when people send him grateful acknowledgements of complimentary subscriptions to the Ave Maria. He wishes that his name not be mentioned. He sent some of his surplus earning to the Ave to spread its word around and if his name gets involved it will put the melody out of tune.

1926 Jun. 30
Henderson, Mary F.: Salisbury, N(orth) C(arolina)
to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.: Notre Dame, Ind(iana)

Salisbury was the birthplace of Frances Christine Fisher Tiernan and a movement is soon to be launched to place a memorial to her. Henderson is anxious to secure material for a sketch of her career, hoping to publish it simultaneously when an appeal for funds for the memorial is made. Henderson asks if anything has been published about Tiernan in the Ave or if Hudson can supply references or criticisms from other sources.
