Includes correspondence; manuscripts and reprints of his articles; drafts, research notes, and copies of three of his books: Profile of a Precinct Committeeman (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.: Oceana Publications, 1968), The Indiana Third (Notre Dame, Indiana: University of Notre Dame Press, 1970), and The Irish Judiciary (Notre Dame, Indiana: University of Dame Press, 1971); transcripts of his lectures and speeches; grade books and course outlines; correspondence, reports, and minutes relating to his work with the Community Conservation Board of Chicago, the Indiana Commission on State Tax and Financing Policy, and the Republican National Committee; newspaper clippings relating to the Notre Dame mock political convention and Washington tour for Notre Dame students, two programs started by Bartholomew; tape recordings of lecture and research notes; and photographs.

CBRW 1 - Series - Correspondence and Miscellany - 1954-1975 - Correspondence with publishers, politicians, personal friends, colleagues, and others concerning Bartholomew's publications, courses, visiting professorships, and a Fulbright grant application. The miscellany includes awards, documents from the Midwest Conference of Political Scientists, resumes, and pamphlets.

CBRW 3-14 - Series - Writings - ca. 1940s-1970s - Reprints and manuscripts of Bartholomew's articles, book reviews, and speeches on legal and political topics; manuscripts and published copies of his books, including The Irish Judiciary (Univ. of Notre Dame Press: South Bend, 1971), The Indiana Third Congressional District (Univ. of Notre Dame Press: South Bend, 1970), and Profile of a Precinct Committeeman (Oceana Publications: Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., 1968); and correspondence, research data, printed material, and notes gathered in the course of his research.

CBRW 21-23, 26-28 - Series - Subject Files and Organizations - 1930s-1970s - Correspondence, manuscripts and reprints of Bartholomew's articles, copies of his speeches, material from professional associations, exam questions, and newspaper clippings. Topics covered in the subject files include the Midwest Conference of Political Scientists and the Washington tour program for Notre Dame students. This series also includes correspondence, minutes, newsletters, and printed material from four organizations. Bartholomew prepared a report on the activities of the Community Conservation Board of Chicago in 1959; served as a research associate for the Indiana Commission on State Tax and Financing Policy in 1958; contributed articles during the 1950s to the Service Letter of the Institute for Social Order (St. Louis); and prepared a report in 1961 for the Republican National Committee on the Committee's divisions.

CBRW 2,15-20 - Series - Teaching Records - 1950s-1960s - Grade books, lecture notes and transcripts, bibliographies, syllabi, and exams from government and political science courses taught by Bartholomew at Notre Dame.

CBRW 24-25,29 - Series - Printed Material - 1940s-1960s - Pamphlets, reprints of articles, newspaper clippings, and books on the Democratic and Republican Parties, civil rights, and other topics relating to politics and government. Also included are publications relating to Notre Dame football, newspaper clippings on the Notre Dame mock political convention, reports from Notre Dame faculty meetings, and issues of the Scholastic.
