Background

A group, led by Rufus William Rauch, composed of Notre Dame faculty members and others associated with Notre Dame interested in the writings of G.K. Chesterton. In 1980 the Chestertonians put on a program celebrating the 50th anniversary of Chesterton's semester at Notre Dame (fall 1930). Frederick Crosson, Ralph McInerny, Frank Sheed, and John Bennet Shaw, among others, participated in the program. In 1983 the group helped bring Stanley L. Jaki to Notre Dame to speak on "Chesterton: a Seer of Science".
