Scope and Content

Copy of a letter that Manion, the Dean of Notre Dame's Law School between 1941 and 1952, wrote to Phillip Moore, CSC, recounting his years as professor and Dean (30 January 1969); a list of the titles of and guests on each installment of the Manion Forum radio program, 1954-1979; an alphabetized card index version of the same; notes, obituaries and biographical sketches of Manion; eleven books and articles written or published by Manion; and issues of the Manion Forum Newsletter, 1962-1978, and the Manion Forum Yearbook, 1954-1979; with a related address book.

Also Reel-to-reel and cassette audio recordings (1954-1979) of the Manion Forum radio program (numbered 1-1294) and Manion Forum Footnotes (numbered 1-1850).

The Manion Forum circulars published before February of 1958 presented transcriptions of what Manion and his guests said on the air. Starting with weekly broadcast #177, 16 February 1958, some of the Manion Forum publications presented edited versions representing the gist of the discussion but often with reordered paragraphs or rephrased remarks.

The Chicago Historical Society's Chicago History Museum Research Center has a much larger collection of Manion Papers (over 50 linear feet). Hillsdale College has another set of audio recordings from Manion Forum radio broadcasts, 1954-1979.
