Background

In 1983 Philip J. Murnion founded the National Pastoral Life Center to study the Catholic Church in the United States; NPLC published Church Magazine, conducted sociological surveys of ministry in Catholic parishes, including lay ministry, and worked with Catholic bishops to improve the quality of pastoral minsitry. NPLC closed in 2009.
