Scope and Content

Eight scrapbooks (chiefly 1986-1987) documenting the crisis in the ecclesiastical career of Archbishop Raymond G. Hunthausen, compiled by Janice Wasden Price; containing newspaper clippings, press releases, memoranda, correspondence, photocopies, reports, circulars, statements, and pictures; a box of newspapers and ephemera, including many issues of The Progress from the same period; a ninth scrapbook containing "Key Documents in the Hunthausen Affair, 1983-1989," compiled by Timothy P. Schilling in the course of his doctoral research; also a dissertation by Schilling, Conflict in the Catholic Hierarchy: Coping Strategies in the Hunthausen Affair (University of Utrecht, 2003); pins in support of Hunthausen; and three cassette audio tapes containing interviews conducted by Schilling with the Very Rev. Michael G. Ryan, who was closely associated with Hunthausen.

As part of his research for his dissertation, Timothy P. Schilling collected newspaper articles and conducted interviews concerning Archbishop Hunthausen. Janice Wasden Price gave him the Hunthausen scrapbooks she had compiled.
