Scope and Content
These photographs (negatives, contact sheets, and slides) cover Notre Dame campus and student life, 1970-1974. They include sporting events, lectures, concerts, cenic views of campus, students, professors, administrators, Vietnam war protests, various campus events, some student trips, and scenes of downtown South Bend. Photographs taken after 1974 focus more exclusively on Notre Dame sports, especially basketball.
Background
During his years as a Notre Dame student, Joe Raymond served as a photographer for student publications such as the Dome (yearbook), the Scholastic (magazine), and the Observer (daily newspaper). After he graduated from Notre Dame, he had a lifelong career as a freelance photographer, and continued to photograph Notre Dame sporting events.
