CBOL John P. Boland: Manuscripts
- CBOL 3 CIVIC AND LABOR COMMITTEES 1930-1942
Correspondence, newspaper clippings, case records, essays, and speeches
relating to Boland's membership on city, state and regional committees,
including the Buffalo Committee on the Stabilization of Unemployment
(1930-1931), the Cosmopolitan Club of Erie County, New York (1931), the
Catholic Industrial Conference of America (1934), the Buffalo Labor Board,
and the New York State Labor Relations Board (1939-1942). Many the
clippings collected in Boland's scrapbooks relate to these committees (see
SRAPBOOKS SERIES, boxes 6-17). The PERSONAL AND MISCELLANEOUS SERIES (boxes
4-5) includes programs and congratulatory letters written at the time of
Boland's retirement as chairman of the New York State Labor Relatins Board.

CBOL 4/01-11 OVERSEAS ACTIVITIES 1944, 1947
Correspondence, travel records, reports, diaries, clippings, and similar
material relating to Boland's post-WWII work in Europe, the Middle East,
and Japan. He worked with War Relief Serices (National Cathoic Welfare
Conference) in Europe and the Middle East and served as a labor relations
consultant to General Douglas MacArthur in Japan. Scrapbooks of clippings,
correspondence, and travel records from his European trip are included in
the SCRAPBOOK SERIES (boxes 12-13). .5 ft.

CBOL 4/12-42 ST. BONAVENTURE COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 1930s
Correspondence, programs, newsletters, and similar material relating to
fundraising, commencements, alumni reunions, and administration of the
association. Monsignor Boland attended St Bonaventure (Allegany, New York)
from 1904 to 1905 and served as vice president of the Alumni Association.

Programs and occasional correspondence from testimonial dinners, newspaper
articles written at the time of Boland's death (1968), and a diary kept by

CBOL 6-17 SCRAPBOOKS c1929-1950s
Newspaper clippings, correspondence, and personal memorabilia. Most of the
clippings relate to the labor movement and Boland's activities. Some of the
scrapbooks were compiled while Boland was chairman of the New York State
Labor Relations Board. Also included are scrapbooks of Boland's trip to
Europe and scattered issues of the newspaper Social Justice(1937-1940). The
dates of many of the scrapbooks overlap. Photographs that were not part of
the scrapbooks have been transferred to the Monsignor John Boland
Photograph Collection (GBOL). 33 scrapbooks.
