Kennedy has also written many articles and newsletters. In 1981, Kennedy published his first novel, Father's Day, which was awarded the Carl Sandburg Prize for Fiction by the Chicago Literary Society. This was followed by another novel in 1984, Queen Bee. He has most recently authored a play based on Pope John XXIII entitled I Would be Called John.

    This series contains all notes, correspondence, and manuscripts generated through the writing of published works. This series is further divided into four sub-series: books, serials, articles, and plays. Within each sub-series, works are arranged chronologically by date of publication.
    • CKNN 1-10 Subseries : Books 1965-1986
      This is the largest of the sub-series in this collection and contains material for 32 books written between 1965 and 1985. Material includes notes, correspondence, manuscripts, and galley proofs. Different versions of manuscripts are identified, where possible, and arranged accordingly. The box/folder list does not include subheadings, which appear on the folder and denote what material is contained within the particular folder.
