Correspondence with prospective clients, architects, and other artists concerning sculptures that Mestrovic was commissioned to produce. The series includes correspondence from projects that were completed and from those that never got past the planning stage. Topics discussed include the nature of the artwork requested, the way the work was to fit into the architecture of a prospective site, legal and financial arrangements, and work schedules. A few of the project files also include contracts and reports, clippings, and brochures that describe the purpose of the building or memorial as well as the group that is commissioning the work. Projects discussed include sculpture for the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C., the Chicago Indians sculpture, and an American memorial to Jewish victims of World War II, which was never realized. Similar correspondence can be found in the correspondence series, especially for projects that were routinely turned down by Mestrovic. The Mestrovic papers also include architectural plans relating to some of the commissions documented in this series (they are stored with the Archives' other oversize architectural drawings and plans).
