OMNG 1/[1970] Plaque: "Frank Leahy 1908-1973" features 4 photos (Leahy, Basilica, Main Building Dome, Football Stadium) "In September of 1971, Frank Leahy, from his hospital bed in Portland, Oregon, sent the following telegram to the University of Notre Dame where his former national championship players were gathered in reunion" (letter engraved on silver metal, wood plaque) 1973 "Frank Leahy played under the immortal Knute Rockne. After graduation he left Notre Dame and distinguished himself as a coach. In 1941 he returned to his Alma Mater and served as head coach of Notre Dame from 1941-1953, establishing a record of eighty-seven victories, eleven defeats, and nine ties - an achievement that has enhanced the pride and tradition of Our Lady's school.
