Dispensation asked by Chalais in order to marry Maria Dupre.

--------
1799 Jan. 10

Pavie, Father P(ierre)
Natchitoche, (Louisiana)

to Bishop (Luis Penalver y Cardenas)
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

Pavie's desire to prepare his parishioners for their Easter duty prevents him from using the permission given him to come to ask a dispensation from affinity. He asks that the dispensation be given so that the marriage may take place before Lent. He also sends the record of burials and marriages for the last year, with the census (no enclosures). (On the back of this letter is a notation dated) June 5, 1799: "To be added to the petition."
