to Bishop (Luis Penalver y Cardenas)
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

Gayard, a native of Bourdeos, son of Domingo and Juana Lesplit wishes to marry Henrrieta, aged 16, daughter of Nicolas Lowe and Catalina Couluret. Some years ago he had a son by Eufrosina Loubi, Henrietta's sister, which has always been cared for by the grandparents. It was public knowledge but Eufrosina was married to Mr. Loubi who was then overseas and who is now dead, as is Eufrosina. Gaillard asks (Penalver) to receive the testimony of the witnesses that there are no other impediments, that he is single, that he came to this city 14 or 15 years ago.
