1801 Jun. 17

Barriere, Father Mig(ue)l Bern(ar)do
At(t)akapas, (Louisiana)

to Bishop (Luis Penalver y Cardenas)
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

There are about 405 families in Barriere's parish but to get the exact number of persons would be very difficult because of the distance. He wanted to use the help of the syndics but they do not do this willingly or do it badly. As for the negroes it is impossible to know the number as their owners do not want to give it.
