Hidalgo encloses the royal circular ordered sent by His Highness concerning the petition made in the name of Father Jose Manuel de Quezada, O. Merced. of this city for appeal from the decision made in the ecclesiastical court. Hidalgo asks that (Penalver) advise him so that he may bring it to the same authority.

Through the Audiencia and royal chancery of the city of St. Mary of Puerto Principe of the Island of Cuba, by reason of the petition made in the name of Father Quesada of the Convent of Our Lady of Mercy seeking to determine to which metropolitan he must apply for appeal in the decision made in the ecclesiastical curia, the following decree was drawn up:
Chavez, Luis, Pedro Catani and Melchor Foncerrada
The Audiencia rules that the nearest bishop should hear the case, which was ordered sent to all the bishops of the district requesting that they reply as soon as they receive it.
