Salcedo, Manuel de
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

to Father T(h)omas Hasset(t)
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

Salcedo returns the letter of the majordomo of the Cathedral, Ant(oni)o Morales, sent in Hasset(t)'s letter of November 16. Salcedo has no objection to the proposed repairs to the roof of the Cathedral which Hasset(t) has ordered examined by the Master Sergeant of this place. But nothing more than is indispensable is to be done because the news may be true that this province is to be given back.

Hassett, Father Thomas
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

to Manuel de Salcedo
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

Hassett sends Morales' letter to ask if Salcedo can give his consent to what is asked. Hassett thinks it would be fitting for Gilberto Guillemard to examine the roof as he is qualified to estimate what is to be done.

Hassett, Father Thomas
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

to Ant(oni)o Morales
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

Hassett has no objection to the repairs Morales proposes in his letter of the 10th, but Hassett must mention that the Vice-Patron and he agree that no expenditure is to be made beyond what is indispensable since the rumors may be verified that this province is to be returned. Therefore the white washing of the church is to be left out.
