Hassett, Father Thomas
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

to Manuel de Salcedo
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

Hassett sent Salcedo the original of a paper presented by Luis Marcos, retired sergeant of the Permanent Regiment of Louisiana, complaining of the bad conduct and dissolute life of his wife, Ana Hartiz, so that Salcedo could have the wrongdoers punished, putting them in jail at the disposal of this tribunal. The answer to the above letter made Hassett decide to take this step immediately fearing the fatal consequences of an injury to the complainant without first holding Pepe, the Catalonian with whom his wife is living.

Hassett, Father Thomas
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

to Manuel de Salcedo
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

The step-son and sons of a Mr. Bagneris living 12 leagues from the river, have asked Hassett to arrange the departure of their three sisters from their father's house in order to educate them at the Ursuline Convent. Hassett does not wish to do this without the help of Salcedo because of the reluctance of Bagneris to part with his step-daughter on two occasions when the brother sought to come to this city to live in order to protect his sister's reputation.
