Jose Deglutyn Deville to whom the king has given a permit to marry Adelaida Lalande, both of this vicinity, asks (Penalver) for a dispensation from the three banns. His future mother-in-law is very ill and wishes to go to Mobile to her brother Pedro de Olivier, Commandant of that post, where she expects to recover her health. He has had the royal permit for over 8 months and his (intention) to marry is well known but he has not done so because he was serving in the upper Mississippi. He asks that his witnesses be heard.

Jose Cruzat appeared and swore that Jose Deville degoutin is a native of New Orleans, son of Jose Deville Degoutin and M(ari)a Juana Charon, that he is single and free from impediment to marry Adelayda Lalande Dalcourt, also of this city, daughter of Estevan Lalande Dalcourt and Vizenta Adelayda Olivier Devessin, who is very ill and waiting only for the ceremony in order to leave for Mobile. Cruzat signs as Josef Cruzat and the bishop signs with his flourish.

Penalver grants the dispensation. Father Ramon Palao, pastor, with the assistance of the chaplain of the regiment is to impart the nuptial blessing. Quintero certifies this decree and adds in notes that he notified Degoutin of it and that the permit was given.

The governor general of the province, in his letter of the 25th, tells Bouligny that on Jan. 5, 1797 Luis de las Casas informed him by a royal order of September 22, 1796, that the minister of war told him the following: the king has granted to Jose Deville DeGoutin the license he asked for to marry Adelayda Lalande Dalcourt.
