Tibudeaux, Pedro
(New Orleans, Louisiana)
to Bishop (Luis Penalver y Cardenas)
(New Orleans, Louisiana)
Tibudeaux, a native and resident of the parish of St. Landry of Opel(o)usas, desires to marry Margarita Richard, of the same place, to whom he is related. He asks (Penalver) to receive the testimony of the witnesses who will declare that he is the son of Magdalena Sangre and Pedro Tibudeaux, son of Juan Tibudeaux; that Margarita Richard is the daughter of Victor Richard and Maria Brase, daughter of Carlos Brase and M(ari)a Magdalena Tibudaux, daughter of Juan Tibudeaux; that he has visited his fiancee's house for three years with the idea of marrying her so that if he does not marry her she will be discredited; that the district in which they live is settled by Acadians, all related so that it would be impossible to marry anyone not related unless he moved to a different community which would be a hardship as he supports his mother who gives him a piece of land to work. Tibudeaux asks for a dispensation. Father (Isidro) Quintero, as secretary, notes in the margin that Tibudeaux appeared but does not know how to sign.
