Ximenez, Carlos
New Orleans, (Louisiana)
Ximenez, as a public notary, certifies that in 1791 proceedings were begun before him and in the court of the governor against Andres Sunans and Francisco Aguiar, instigated by Antonio Mendes, public attorney for Miguel Coradiny whereby Sunans and Aguiar were put in prison and their goods seized. Ximenez having appraised Sunans' property for a sale in March 1794, Ramis appeared in the same court asking for the amount owed by Sunans to the church for land occupied by him and having corroborated this demand by the confession of Sunans the case remained suspended until the public sale. Sunans' goods being insufficient to pay the costs, Ramis' demand was ineffective. Ximenez remembers this although these proceedings, together with those instituted by Maria Hognor over a still Sunans had in his possession were lost in a fire of December 8, 1794.

(Penalver y Cardenas, Luis), Bishop and Manuel Gayoso de Lemos
New Orleans, Louisiana
Having examined the accounts of the Cathedral and having seen the audit made by Quintanilla, Gayoso and Penalver state that, putting into the balance the 249 pesos which remained to be collected for 1795, they approve the above accounts on condition that they take into consideration the 45 pesos owed by Santiago Libodeta, 78 by Isabel la Noche, and 33 by Madam Fabre for pew rent since the orders, as shown in the next to the last document, are not sufficient to bring them out of debt. Therefore they declare that the amount of 1314 pesos 2 reales be entered in the books and that (Ramis) be under bond of 2000 pesos. (?) Quintero certifies this and in notes following states that on August 22 he notified Ramis and entered the above decree in the books as ordered.
