Hsieh, Francis X(avier):
Wei Hai Wei, (China)
to Father D(aniel) E. Hudson, C.S.C.:
(Notre Dame, Indiana)
Father Finn will be glad to hear that through the help of the organ there has been a solemn sung Mass. Father (Wilfrid) Hallam told him that Hudson is about to make an appeal in behalf of the local mission. Three Sisters are expected in a few days. Anthony Chang thanks Hudson for the picture of his patron. Hsieh's mother had been baptized in early infancy; his father is still an earnest adherent to Confucianism. Hsieh is obliged to work for his father's upkeep. In order to devote part of his time to philosophy and theology he resigned his part as clerk and interpreter. He teaches some Korean boys and helps the Commissioner to do some literary translations.

Notre Dame, Indiana
to (James F. Edwards):
He felt sure that Edwards received the box; the instructions were followed to the letter by Brother Alexander, (C.S.C.). He is sending a South Bend paper which gives a list of the changes. It was not their fault that the original program was not carried out. They got a race for their lives and he is certain Edwards will see a change for the better in their conduct. If they don't follow the course mapped out for them, they will go next year.

Hudson, C.S.C., Father Daniel E.:
Notre Dame, Indiana
to (James F.) Edwards:
(Nantasket, Massachusetts)
Father (Andrew) Morrissey, (C.S.C.) and he were glad to hear from Edwards. The weather Edwards is in ought to do him good. As a result of the Chapter Father (Leo) Heiser, (C.S.C.) goes to Oregon, Father (Thomas) Corbett, (C.S.C.) goes to Cincinnati, Father (James) Rogers, (C.S.C.) returns to Notre Dame, Father (Walter) Lavin, (C.S.C.) replaces Heiser in Sorin Hall coming from New Orleans. The Olivers are touring in the East; he heard from Mrs. (Grace S.) Fish. Father (Louis) L'Etourneau is quite feeble; Brother Norbert is dying of cancer of the stomach; Father (William) Moloney, (C.S.C.) improved slowly; Brother Raffael was operated on in Chicago. Father (John) Zahm, (C.S.C.) received no obedience. Edwards probably heard of Bishop (Peter) Hurth's resignation which has been accepted by Rome; no successor has been appointed.

Albeus, (C.S.C.), Brother:
Notre Dame, Indiana
to (James F. Edwards:
Nantasket, Massachusetts)
Edwards need not be uneasy about the document Albeus received from him; he did as Edwards directed. There is an apparent error in the bill they received from the American Express Company. There were very few priests there for the Eucharistic Congress, about 50; 7 bishops and archbishops and monsignori. They all went off well pleased. Many sisters were in the procession.
