Kling, Lucile:
Denver, Colo(rado)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.):
(Notre Dame, Indiana)
This story will be in time for the feast of the Sacred Heart. Kling hopes the little girls will find it enjoyable. She is a convert and brought up in the public schools, where P.V.N. Myers is regarded as the highest authority. And still there are Catholics who maintain that the public schools are unsectarian.

Tiernan, F(rances) C(hristine Fisher):
Salisbury, N(orth) C(arolina)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.):
(Notre Dame, Indiana)
Winding up is always hard work, and Hudson's encouraging note came when she needed it the most. John Maitland's condition had to be dealt with. P.S. To sustain interest she has left the end in doubt.

E(gan) M(aurice) F(rancis):
Copenhagen, (Denmark)
to Father (Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C.):
(Notre Dame, Indiana)
Egan was whirled away without seeing Hudson and has been in bed for 10 days. These are his first lines. He has not even written a line of condolence to Father Morrissey on the death of Father Regan. Egan had a hard time escaping a promotion#x2014;the President laughed when Egan told him a promotion would ruin him. Gerald (Egan) is there and he is a great help to him. Egan was afraid of the Washington life for him; the "Tribune" gave him too much money. He will visit Egans in Fiume and Frankfurt. Will Hudson read an article in the Young Eagle by Margaret Scrofford(?) on the favorite sonnets of Hudson, "A Night in June"? Hudson is not to forget Jorgensen. Carmel sends her love to Hudson and Father Moloney.

Goggin, Father James:
Ware, (England)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.):
(Notre Dame, Indiana)
Goggin thanks Hudson for the kind words about his article. He is not having it republished in England as a pamphlet. The paper was originally written as a lecture for the Catholic Nurses Association which meets at the Visitation Convent in Harrow; he has allowed the nuns to print it. Goggin will be glad if Hudson can bring it out.

Birder thanks Hudson for the book. The subject seems to be of vital interest to all of them. They are enjoying their vacation. Father (John) Maxwell, their parish priest, is from Ireland. They are getting a new auto. He supposes Notre Dame will be changed to a certain extent as regards prefects, etc. They are always anxious to get back and anxious to get home again.

Tirenan is glad the end did not disappoint Hudson. It was the only one possible. She must try to improve it before the story comes out in book form. She thanks Hudson for the $100 check. If she can she will let him have the story of which she writes.

Spalding is in good health and has not done much literary work thus far this year. In January they were thrown into domestic trouble by losing a faithful woman who had lived with them for 8 years. Mother Pauline's invitation to the St. Mary's Commencement started him thinking about Notre Dame and Sister (M.) Rita, (C.S.C.)
