Hallam, O.F.M., Father Wilfrid M.: Wei hai wei, China
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Hallam's school is closed; it was for children of Catholics or catechumens. One dollar per day would keep it open. It has given him a great number of converts in a short time. (Francis Xavier) Hsieh-Jefferson sent him a circular on a new religion which had been sent to him. Hallam is confident Hudson will help him. Hsieh is pursuing a commercial course and career.

Merry DelVal, Cardinal R(aphael): Rome, (Italy)

The Holy Father has heard with great pleasure of Gasquet's project to procure suitable accommodation for the Commission engaged in the Revision of the Vulgate over which Gasquet presides. The realization of Gasquet's project will entail considerable expense but His Holiness feels confident that the necessary funds will be forthcoming.

Fraser, Mary C(rawford): Spokane, Wash(ington)
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Fraser received the Ave Marias with her article on St. Cecilia and was glad to hear that his readers like the articles. She is sorry he can't print any more of them, but the printers are ready to start the book. She will send a description of St. Peter's Tablet as soon as she has seen it. She will not be able to visit Hudson for she has to rush to New York and must work up to the last moment on proofs. She sails on the 6th of September. Her boy is still so utterly broken down that she must get him away at once. If there is any money coming to her on St. Cecilia Hudson can send it to Mrs. Katharine Fraser.
