Tacconi,Bishop Joseph N.: Kaifeng City, China
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Tacconi received Hudson's letter and check for $250 for Masses. A pretty crowd of Americans are running his schools. Five secular priests and seven American Sisters (of Providence) of St. Mary of the Woods. In America his collection has not been a success but he has been successful in finding fine people for his schools. Do the Fathers (of Holy Cross) have any intentions of working in China? He is ready to give them a portion of his diocese.

(Christitch, Elisabeth O'Brien): Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia
to Father (Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C): (Notre Dame, Indiana)

Nikola Christitch, his wife Angela and their son are with her. Annie has left to visit Belgrade. The new minister of Public Worship, a very liberal minded Orthodox priest, is doing wonders for all creeds. Her son is pouring forth all his thoughts, telling his war experiences. He does not believe in the League of Nations, nor in the perfectibility of man. Christitch scarcely misses Janie. These are perhaps Christitch's happiest days. Nikola took her to Mass, but never goes with his wife, Angela, to the Orthodox Worship. One day she is sure he will enter the fold. She thanks Hudson for his check and letter. Her husband first spoke about Christitch's visit to Dubrovnik to Nikola: "Very well. Act as you find proper;" never a word of Annie.
