Heuser, Father H(erman) J.:
Overbrook, Pann(sylvani)a
to Father (Daniel E.) Hudson, (C.S.C.):
(Notre Dame, Indiana)
Heuser has just read in the "Ave Maria" that the head of one of the colleges had stopped his subscription. Since he has some money which he must get rid of, Heuser asks Hudson to use the enclosed money for the mailing of free copies to public institutions—preferably reformatory. Heuser hopes to continue this work next year and wants the information kept private. Enclosed is $100.

(Hudson, C.S.C., Father Daniel E.?):
(Notre Dame, Indiana?)
China now seems to be the most distressful country in the world. The hospitals are overcrowded and lack necessary materials. The Maison de St. Vincent, a large hospital in Ning-po, will have to limit admissions and send away some of the old and infirm if they do not receive more aid. It would be a shame if the appeal of these self-sacrificing Sisters went unheeded for their demand is so urgent. (Proof-sheet from the Ave Maria?)

Kohl, John A.:
Cin(cinnati), O(hio)
to Father D(aniel) E. Hudson, C.S.C.:
(Notre Dame, Indiana)
Out of 600 letters Kohl sent out, he received only three replies, not counting Hudson's. Hudson is to let him know if he ever desires illustrations for the magazine or cover designs for books, or if he knows of anyone else who might be interested. He is devoting most of his talent to Franciscan, Dominican and Jesuit American History, which is a rich and unexplored field. At present, he is painting two large 10 foot canvasses. (Enclosed are Kohl's card and a print of Kohl's painting of Duns Scotus.)
