By virtue of the Reverend's calling, Gordon believes that he understands Gordon's reference to society's moral obligation to these children. He is disappointed to leave "a job unfinished," and hopes the Board will assume an active part in caring for the children's welfare.

He also mentions that he got six A's, and a B+ in logic. He got an A+ in Religion and comments "a good mark for a heretic."

There is a possibility that they can return to St. John's the following year on scholarship, but that is uncertain. Zahn wants Hovda to try to help them.

They are still planning on going to St. John's to see if they can work it out, but it is not hopeful. Furfey feels that Zahn and Leonard should still try to graduate from St. John's because it reflects on their whole movement. Zahn wants to go down fighting.

Some of the teachers do not want him in their classes and there is a possible problem with the treasurer.
