There was more of an indirect reaction from Germany rather than a direct reaction. A Dr. Kafka from the Central Committee of German Catholics asked for a copy. - CZHN 10/13243 Journal #2 : Gordon Zahn - The ACSR Publication Struggle 1960
It is customary for articles of any merit that are presented at a convention to be published during the following year in the ACSR. Paul Mundy, the editor of ACSR, scheduled publication for fall of 1959. However, the publication was postponed. Father Gallagher, an executive at ACSS, has fears about the publication of this paper. Awhile later, Mundy is relieved of his position as editor and the new editor was told by Father Gallagher not to publish the paper going against the promise he made to Mundy that the paper would only be delayed. This is the summary of points up to the present point June 4, 1960.

Discusses the new Executive Council. Says that one change is that the ACSR is set out to move to Marquette with Paul Reiss as editor. Nothing was mentioned of Gallagher's threat to resign. - CZHN 10/13240 Journal #2 : Gordon Zahn - The German Reaction "Second Hand" - Father Maguire 1960
Loyola's response to the paper has thus far been one of official silence. Gordon asks for leave and the President does not automatically give approval, but asks to see Zahn in person. The President, when meeting with Gordon, says he has been visited by a "gentleman of the cloth" ( Msgr. Fittkau). The President suggests that Gordon should meet with Msgr. Fittkau. Then had to meet the President a second time who says he was approached by two high ranking officials in Rome.

Also, says that he received word from Thurston Davis and some Jesuits not to publish the monograph. One major concern is that this controversy will have an effect on the already difficult state of the Catholic Church in both Poland and Hungary.
- CZHN 10/13234 Journal #2 : Gordon Zahn - The Immediate Reaction 1960
States that at no time between the delivery of the paper at the convention and his first meeting with the President did anyone at Loyola, in the Administration, mention the paper with him.
