Adaptation to American Life

Schools are crucial for the adaptation to American life. Children of parents who come from Europe and who go to school here adapt faster to the American way of life than their parents want to realize. And once they have gotten used to it, they should not be sent back and forth across the Atlantic too often. They would inevitably be confronted with an identity crisis. Only when their personality formation has been stabilized to the extent that they can handle the differences in the American and European ways of life should they decide on their own, when and under what circumstances they want to visit Europe.
