Watergate: A Feeling of Shame
America is presently going through the trauma of a national scandal. A general despondency, a feeling of shame, and distrust has been spreading. It even goes so far that no patriotic speeches are held at high school graduations. Americans are by nature open, straightforward and honest people. The feeling of having been deceived is deeply hurting. The ongoing Senate hearings are followed with a shaking of heads, but there is little talk about the matter. Yet a gloomy feeling hovers over the whole affair that the worst is still to come.
