A New Beginning

In his first State of the Union Address before the joint session of Congress, President Reagan promised a new beginning. He offered far-reaching proposals to reduce government spending, to reduce taxes, and for deregulation. Already in the coming fiscal year, 41 billion dollars should be saved. How effective this new beginning will be, depends largely on the psychological impact the new free market economy will have.
