Online Exhibits > Father Edward Sorin and the Founding of Notre Dame

On the 26th of November 1842, after a long journey in the snow, Fr. Edward Sorin and several Brothers of St. Joseph arrived at their destination. In the wilderness of Northern Indiana, at a place known as St. Mary of the Lake, they founded the University of Notre Dame.
