Lamport, Father Miguel
Movila, (Mobile, Alabama)

to Father Antonio de Sedella, vicar of the provinces of Louisiana
New Orleans (Louisiana)

He is embarrassed by not having the necessary faculties to absolve in the internal and external forum those heretics who wish to become Catholics. He has four Protestants under instruction and these intend to enter matrimony before Advent. In case he does not hear from Sedella before Advent he begs permission to marry them during Advent. The people here (at Mobile) say that it is the custom to publish the banns only once; Lamport asks instructions on this matter. In his last letter, he asked permission to celebrate Mass in Ohio in private homes as well as other privileges. He asks instructions in all these matters also. He has had slight attacks of the fever.
