The census of the parish of St. Landry of Opelousas for the year 1796 divides the population into men and women, white and colored, free men and slaves in groups of 1-15 years of age and those above 15. Nine women have made their Easter duty. The church has received 10 pesos in incidental fees. There have been 19 marriages of whites; 3 of Protestants; 113 baptisms of whites, 33 of negroes. 7 boys have made their first Holy Communion. The church lacks everything.
