Hassett informs Salcedo of the decree of (Luis Penalver y Cardenas), the former bishop of the diocese, as of September 16, 1795: "Notario, appointed pastor of Ascension parish in La Fourche on September 24, 1795 served there until April 16, 1798 when he returned to Havana because of ill health."
