MILLS HOUSE
Charleston SC
March 1865

The Mills House was one of the most famous hotels in the South. Robert E. Lee stood on a balcony in December, 1861, and watched the great fire that destroyed much of the city. General P.G.T. Beauregard was a guest until the accuracy of Federal artillery prompted his departure.
